Vt. man charged in stickup at South Burlington drug store

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont man faces charges after police say he threatened employees with an assault-style rifle at a South Burlington drug store Wednesday.

It happened around 5 p.m. at the Kinney Drug on Williston Road. South Burlington Police say store employees confronted a woman they believed was shoplifting. During the disturbance, police say Brent Labombard, 51, retrieved an assault-style rifle from a waiting car and brandished it at store employees before fleeing.

Police say they were later able to identify all of the people involved. They say Labombard — who has a long rap sheet including 11 felonies — was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and simple assault.
