CAVENDISH, Vt. (WCAX) – A human skull found four years ago in Cavendish has been identified as that of a man who went missing in 2010, but investigators don’t know how he died.
Vermont State Police said DNA testing revealed the remains are those of Bryan Gomez of Cavendish. Gomez was 48 when he disappeared. A neighbor reported him missing in July 2010 after not seeing him for nearly a month. Search efforts were not successful.
Troopers said a hunter discovered the skull in the woods in November 2020.
Forensic examiners were able to get DNA from the skull and compare it to Gomez’s siblings, and earlier this year, the medical examiner confirmed the remains were those of Bryan Gomez.
However, investigators were not able to determine the cause or manner of Gomez’s death. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Sgt. Jason Lengfellner at the barracks in Westminster at 802-722-4600 or to provide an anonymous tip online.
