BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont game wardens and state police are urging Vermonters to celebrate the 4th of July safely.
For those celebrating Independence Day on the water, officals are reminding boaters to stay safe.
Operation Dry Water will be underway from July 4th to the 6th with the goal of reducing the number of drug and alcohol-related incidents and deaths on the water.
Coast Guard data shows that alcohol is the primary factor in recreational boater deaths, and 85% of boaters who drowned last year weren’t wearing a life jacket.
