MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Governor Phil Scott continues to dominate in the fundraising race ahead of the August primaries.
Preliminary fundraising numbers show Scott raised $126,000 and spent $84,000. He has well over half a million dollars cash on hand.
Scott’s Democratic challengers — former Middlebury schools administrator Esther Charlesting and former Underhill Selectman Peter Duval did not file fundraising or spending reports.
In the race for lieutenant governor, incumbent David Zuckerman raised $111,000 and spent $70,000. He has about $50,000 on hand. His primary challenger, Winooski Deputy Mayor Thomas Renner raised $43,000 and spent about $8,000, He has over $30,000 on hand.
In the GOP primary for Lt. governor, Rutland accountant Greg Thayer raised over $2,200 and spent about $1,700. His challenger, former Senator John Rodgers — a former Democrat representing Essex-Orleans, did not report any spending or fundraising.
Treasurer Mike Pieciak, who political observers say has ambitions for higher office, is building his own campaign coffers. He raised another $100,000, bringing his total war chest to $214,060.
