BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Independence Day party has started at the Burlington waterfront where visitors are gearing up for the largest annual fireworks show in the state.
Food trucks, vendors, and live music will be ongoing until 11 p.m. Wednesday. The city is hoping that the late live music will cut down on traffic after the fireworks.
Many people earlier in the day were staking their viewing spots along the waterfront.
“Genuinely think it was born of just a tradition. I remember as a kid being very, very mesmerized by the fireworks as a whole and that magic kind of hasn’t gone away with age. And again, the family and friends aspect of it is very, very important to all of us. So, it’s something that we all have to show up for,” said Isaiah Gilbert of St. Albans.
Burlington officials suggest anyone coming down should park up at UVM’s Guttterson Field House. There will be a shuttle running all evening.
The fireworks begin at 9:30.
