Vt. communities to receive brownfield revitalization funding

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Funding from Governor Phil Scott aims to give unused land a second life.

All told, the investment is nearly $3 million.

Six properties are sharing almost $2 million from the state’s Brownfields Revitalization Fund. Those projects are in Newport, St. Johnsbury, West Rutland, and Windsor.

The goal of the money is to turn contaminated land into usable property for housing or other economic opportunity.

Money from the federal level is also being earmarked for brownfield projects in Burlington and Colchester.
