Vt. troopers stop wrong-way driver on Interstate 89

COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say on Tuesday they stopped another wrong-way driver in Vermont– this time on Interstate 89.

Vermont State Police say that at about 10:30 p.m., they got multiple reports of a car headed south in the northbound lane of I-89 near Exit 16 in Colchester.

Troopers caught up with the car in South Burlington and stopped it.

They say the driver, Sherman Adams, 91, of Fairfax, was taken to the Williston barracks and later to the UVM Medical Center for evaluation.

Adams was cited to appear in court next month on a charge of gross negligent operation.

There have been at least 11 wrong-way drivers reported by state police this year.
