Burlington apartment fire displaces residents

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Authorities say a two-alarm apartment fire Monday night in Burlington displaced multiple residents.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. at 75 Loomis Street. Burlington Fire Department officials say crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the roof in the rear of the building. They say the fire originated in a third-floor apartment that extended into the attic.

They say the high temperatures and the building’s construction made it difficult to access the fire, but that they were able to contain it to the building.

Smoke and water damage displaced residents in multiple apartments.

The Burlington Fire Marshal says the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction.
