RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Blood donors are offering the gift of life in memory of a Rutland family.
Peter Giancola died in 2020 after a ten-year battle with cancer.
His daughter, Grace, says blood donations gave the family extra time with her dad, and have held blood drives in his honor for the last couple of years, collecting over 1,000 pints.
“When he passed, my siblings and I wanted to be able to give back to our community and make sure that people got the same experiences with their loved ones that we got with our dad so we decided to partner with the Red Cross and put on this drive,” Grace said.
The family is hoping to collect over 240 pints of blood during this drive.
