Remnants of Hurricane Beryl to hit region on Vt. flooding anniversary

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – The remnants of Hurricane Beryl are expected to bring significant rainfall to our region Wednesday evening, the first anniversary of catastrophic flooding that left a number of Vermont communities under water.

Forecasters say that while there are no official flood watches or warnings as of Tuesday morning, as much as 3.5 inches of rain to northern and central areas and that some locally heavier pockets could bring up to 5 inches, which could lead to flash flooding.

Vermont Emergency Management officials say they are closely monitoring the situation.

The storm arrives as Vermont is observing the first anniversary of last summer’s catastrophic flooding that brought up to 9 inches across the state on July 10-11.
