MORETOWN, Vt. (WCAX) – Road crews are beginning work and communities are assessing the damage as the long road to recovery gets underway.
Construction vehicles line a bridge that was entirely washed out on Route 100B over Dowsville Brook in Moretown. Repair crews are getting to work to repair that bridge.
It’s just one of many roads that have been impacted, state roads across the state are slowly opening back up as crews make repairs. But it won’t be smooth sailing everywhere.
Route 5 at Mill Rd. in Barnet washed out, taking large swaths of the Barnet Village store, and exposing the foundation and pipes under the building.
There is good news for commutes the Interstate 89 Exit 11 off-ramp in Richmond has reopened Thursday evening.
But other communities are facing traffic woes. There are closures along Route 15 from Cambridge to Johnson.
Route 2 is still closed in Plainfield. Route 302 in the Barre City and Barre Town area is still closed and sections of Route 5 all the way from Lyndon to Barnet are closed. For updated state road closures visit New England 511.
