Some state roads remain closed following flooding

GROTON, Vt. (WCAX) – More than a half a dozen state roads remained closed as a result of damage from last week’s flooding.

That includes Route 302 in the Groton area. Crews were hard at work there Monday morning making needed repairs. Traffic is being detoured onto Route 232.

The owner of the Upper Valley Grill and General Store says the closure is inconvenient, but the business will weather the storm.

“I look at it this way… as soon as they can get in there and fix the roads, get back in business, people will be coming back to the Groton area, Groton forest. Traveling through to New Hampshire, going to the ocean or heading up to Burlington,” said Bill Kane of the Upper Valley Grill.

His store suffered damage in the parking lot but, luckily, not inside.

Other major state roads that are closed at this time include Route 5 in Barnet, Route 2 in Plainfield, Route 12 in Middlesex and Route 100B in Moretown. You can visit newengland511.org for the latest on state road closures.
