Music for Food concert this weekend

COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – Musicians will string together a sweet set to help fight hunger this weekend. It’s part of the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, now in its 20th year, which has been running for a few weeks now.

More than 200 students from all over the country come to St. Michael’s College in Colchester to hone their skills with string quartets that go out into the community to play.

But this weekend, the focus is on raising funds to feed hungry Vermonters through the Music for Food program.

“It’s a musician-led initiative where you present a concert in your local community and you select a beneficiary for food and monetary donations. So it helps fight hunger in local communities,” said Amanda Stenroos, the general manager of the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.

You can see them perform Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the College Street Congregational Church.

In lieu of buying a ticket, organizers say you should bring a nonperishable food item for Feeding Champlain Valley. Click here for all the details.
