ENOSBURGH, Vt. (WCAX) – Police investigating the disappearance of an Enosburgh woman spent Friday searching neighboring properties. But they said there were no significant updates in the case.
Vermont State Police call the disappearance of Roberta Martin, 82, suspicious. She was last heard from by her family on Tuesday and she was reported missing from her Butternut Hollow Road home on Wednesday.
Friday, police were parked all day at a neighbor’s house searching the area and taking photos.
Thursday, neighbors told WCAX News they were told to leave due to a search warrant pointing to duct tape left in their yard. But it’s not yet clear whether anything police collected is evidence.
Down the road, police parked on Vince Zecchinelli’s property to search through tall grass and nearby woods. He said he was happy to let police use his property in their search for the missing woman, evidence or any suspects.
“Whatever it takes to find either Roberta or whoever did whatever to her,” he said.
Reporter Ike Bendavid: Did you see anything on your property? Anything odd?
Vince Zecchinelli: No.
Zecchinelli says Martin was a kind neighbor. He’s still in shock about her suspicious disappearance.
“Couldn’t believe, it’s just terrible, terrible tragedy. I hope they find her. It’s been a few days now, makes us all a little worried if it will have a positive outcome now,” he said.
Martin’s house now sits empty surrounded by crime scene tape as friends and family are left to pray she’s found safe.
We still don’t know what led up to Roberta Martin’s disappearance.
Her family told the police she was healthy and did not have memory problems.
Troopers want to talk to anyone who may have been in the general area of Sand Hill Road and Butternut Hollow Road from 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, until noon on Wednesday, July 17.
Roberta Martin is about 5′1″ and weighs 115 lbs. She has white hair and brown eyes.
