Prosecutors agree to dismiss DUI charge against Vt. lawmaker

BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – State prosecutors have agreed to dismiss a DUI charge against Vermont state Rep. Jim Carroll, that’s according to his attorney.

The Bennington representative was arrested in February after police pulled him over for an excessively loud muffler and noticed signs of alcohol impairment.

Carroll’s attorney says the charges will be dropped once the Bennington Democrat completes a safe driver and restorative justice program.

His lawyer says they were confident they would win at trial but says Carroll preferred not to further burden the court system.
