Rutland man indicted on federal gun, drug charges

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A grand jury has indicted a Rutland man on federal gun and drug charges.

Authorities say Daniel McSwiggan, 51, allowed people to distribute and use drugs at his home, and also had two guns which he wasn’t supposed to.

Court records say in June, McSwiggan shot a rifle at a suspected drug dealer outside his home.

Investigators say they found guns, ammo and drugs inside his home.

A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted McSwiggan on the gun and drug charges. Authorities say he will be arraigned in the coming days.

If convicted, McSwiggan could face up to 20 years in prison.
