GRAND ISLE, Vt. (WCAX) – The judge in the trial of a Vermont sheriff accused of assaulting a prisoner has declared a mistrial.
The jury in the trial of Franklin County Sheriff John Grismore spent roughly four hours deliberating and could not come to a unanimous decision. They said they would not be able to come to a decision if they reconvened later in the week.
This means Grismore will have to be tried again at a later date.
