Pets with Potential: Meet Alfonso, the ‘Sesame Street’ gang, and Dip

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – This week’s Pets with Potential are a kitty, a bunch of puppies, and a gecko available for adoption at the Springfield Humane Society.

Alfonso is a five-year-old male kitty who has made quite a remarkable recovery since arriving at the shelter. He came in very sick with calcivirus — which caused a sore on his tongue — making it too painful for him to eat. But after plenty of TLC, he’s now a healthy boy ready for his forever home. Staff say he’s people-friendly and gets along with other cats.

Bert, Ernie, Grover, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and Elmo are all five months old. Their mom is a lab mix and their dad is a boxer-shepherd. Staff say they are sweet, playful, and ready to give their new families years of love and faithful companionship. They’re neutered and caught up on a number of vaccines.

Dip is the Springfield Humane Society’s resident gecko. Staff say he’s one-part reptile, two-parts angel. They say he came to the shelter in pretty rough shape but made an amazing recovery and is now healthy and ready for his new home. He’s sweet, unassertive, loves hunting crickets, hiding in quiet spaces, and resting on a warm hand.
