Plattsburgh wins $10K clean energy award

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – The town of Plattsburgh has won funding to help support clean energy initiatives.

The town got a $10,000 Clean Energy Community Award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

It comes as Plattsburgh continues to meet milestones in clean energy, including converting its street lights to LED energy-efficient lighting.

Town officials say the award funding will be used to purchase electric landscaping and construction equipment. They say these new tools will help save energy, cut emissions and improve employee safety by removing harmful fumes.

Plattsburgh is the first community in the county to win the designation.
