BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont woman serving time for attempted murder pleaded not guilty to a new charge on Thursday morning.
Veronica Lewis is serving time in prison for shooting her firearms instructor in 2015, leaving him with debilitating medical problems.
In May, police say Lewis used a facility-issued tablet and a lock inside a sock to attack her sleeping cellmate. Police say the victim, Yvonne Frederiksen, went to the hospital with serious injuries.
Lewis pleaded not guilty on Thursday to violating her conditions and remains behind bars until a hearing next month.
