Camel’s Hump State Park expands 62 acres

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A beloved Vermont State Park is about 62 acres bigger thanks to the success of a conservation project.

The Ridley Brook Conservation Project adds the land to Camel’s Hump State Park in Duxbury.

While the primary goal is to protect biodiversity in the area, officials say it also supports flood resilience and water quality in the Winooski River watershed by slowing down, absorbing, and filtering future floodwaters.

It’s also part of a larger effort to link the northern green mountains and Canada to the southern green mountains and Berkshires.
