BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont health officials are urging precaution after mosquitoes in Grand Isle and Franklin Counties tested positive for eastern equine encephalitis.
Triple e is a serious and potentially fatal mosquito-transmitted infection that is highest from late summer into fall. It’s the first detection in the state this year.
To keep yourself and your family safe, experts recommend wearing long sleeves and pants, using bug spray, and limiting time outside at dawn and dusk. People should also get rid of standing water.
If you have any symptoms — including fever, chills, fatigue, joint, and body aches — contact your health care provider.
