MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A substance abuse treatment center saved from impending closure.
That’s thanks to an acquisition by Washington County Mental Health Services.
Treatment Associates is one of the only substance abuse treatment centers left in the Montpelier area after Central Vermont Substance Abuse Services closed its doors in April.
When Treatment Associates owner Dr. James Stone announced his retirement plans, there was a worry central Vermont would be left without recovery services.
But thanks to funding from the state of Vermont, private donors, and WCMH services, Treatment Associates will continue functioning as usual, but now as a part of Washington County Mental Health Services.
“It’s great that we are really able to integrate and provide co-occurring treatment to people where we hadn’t really been able to comprehensively in the past,” said Alycia Post from Washington County Mental Health Services.
WCMHS hadn’t offered recovery services until now.
