BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – While the remnants of Debby didn’t bring any major flooding, high winds toppled trees and powers lines across our region.
As of Saturday morning, are than 26,000 people are without power in Vermont, the majority in Chittenden, Addison, Orleans, and Franklin Counties.
Green Mountain Power spokesperson Kristin Kelly says customers should be patient, while crews work to restore power.
“What we are expecting is that this will be a multi-day restoration event for our customers. Vermont has seen a brutal summer for storms and these storms have done heartbreaking damage across the state,” she said.
In New York’s North Country, more than 2,500 people are waking up in the dark Saturday morning.
Any flooding concerns have subsided, as all rivers that rose Friday and into Saturday morning are expected to continue receding.
