BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Friday is Bennington Battle Day, commemorating the day British forces in our region were defeated in 1777 during the American Revolutionary War.
While the fight actually happened in New York, celebrations will be underway in full force in Bennington from Friday afternoon through Sunday.
Admission will also be free on Friday to state historic sites including the Bennington Battle Monument, Chimney Point, Mt. Independence, and the Calvin Coolidge state historic site.
While Vermont state offices are closed Friday for the holiday, federal offices remain open.
