Burlington repeat offender cuffed in 6th arrest this week

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Burlington repeat offender was back in court again Thursday for his sixth arrest of the week, police say.

Patrick Ibbotson, 37, is accused of various crimes throughout the city and was arrested twice Thursday, the day after a judge allowed him to get out on bail.

The latest charges come after Burlington Police say he stole someone’s phone Thursday on North Winooski Avenue and then later that night grabbed a woman “in a lewd and lascivious manner” downtown.

He was lodged on $250 bail at Northwest State Correctional Facility.

Ibbotson is already due back in court next month for a hospitalization hearing after being found not competent for trial in a separate case.

Police have said he has had nearly 230 law enforcement encounters in the past year alone.
