BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is calling on the Biden administration to send aid to the North Country.
The state of New York made a major disaster declaration following severe flooding last month, and now the lawmaker is asking for the powers in Washington, D.C. to approve it.
Heavy rain and wind impacted Essex, Hamilton, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.
Stefanik says damage assessments suggest an impact of over $60 million, something North Country communities cannot shoulder.
She adds that she and her office are ready to work with FEMA to deliver support to their communities.
