BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont Congressomwan Becca Balint on Wednesday highlighted cash coming to a culvert in the Northeast Kingdom.
The $800,000 earmark will help replace an aging culvert on Route 100 in Lowell that dates back to the 1940s. It’s designed to allow more stormwater to flow and for wildlife to be able to move upstream.
Balint says some of the nation’s oldest roads, bridges, and wastewater systems are in Vermont and that investing in infrastructure is a bipartisan issue. “Something that we can come together on regardless of party is the critical importance of projects like this and how we have to find ways to find taxpayer dollars to fund this work,” she said.
Construction on the project is expected to begin soon.
