LYNDON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Millers Run Covered Bridge in Lyndonville is getting a much needed face lift.
Over the years, the bridge has been hit several times by box trucks leaving behind thousands in damage. Now the town is moving forward to fix the problem. The selectboard has now partnered with Techno Metal Post Vermont to build two metal barriers at the end of each side of the bridge.
“We basically made the decision to not replace the facades on both ends of the building. Until we have this in place. We have had a two by four with a reflective piece of material up. But the faces on both ends have probably been down for probably, five or so months now” said Justin Smith, the Lyndon Town Administrator.
The project is going to cost the town more than $40,000 and construction is set to start September 21st.
