Police investigate three suspicious deaths in Pawlet

PAWLET, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police now say they are investigating three suspicious deaths in the town of Pawlet.

“There was a report of a person that had some blood on them. That they saw on the roadway,” Maj. Dan Trudeau of Vt. State Police said.

According to state police, they received a call early Sunday morning of a suspicious person on the side of the road. Followed by another call that led police to a home on VT. Rte 133, where troopers found three dead bodies.

“We ended up detaining this person. Described getting to the house, and finding deceased bodies inside,” Trudeau said.

VSP and their crime scene search team spent all Sunday at the residence putting up tape, and collecting evidence. They believe the three victims died late afternoon Saturday.

Police used the town’s fire department as a home base while investigating the scene.

Officials say they have spoken to several members of the family and expect to be back at the house Monday morning.

“You know, you have to trust the process. Its not a fast process sometimes. We want to get it right the first time. Be cautious, sometimes that might not be an arrest right away,” Trudeau said.

VSP says they don’t currently have a positive suspect, but the individual who was taken into custody is still being questioned.
