WASHINGTON (WCAX) – Vermont Sen. Peter Welch is fighting to ensure every family can grow, even if they need medical intervention.
It comes after Senate Republicans shot down the Right to IVF Act. The legislation would protect access to in vitro fertilization and remove financial barriers for participants.
The act was blocked by most Senate Republicans back in June, who called the legislation “too broad.” Senate Republicans did the same on Tuesday.
Welch joined his colleagues on the steps of the Senate on Tuesday to tout the legislation.
“We implore the GOP to use this opportunity to pass the Right to IVF Act and ensure every family in Vermont and across the country has the freedom to plan and control their futures,” said Welch, D-Vermont.
At the event, Welch held a photo of the Sinew family of Vermont who benefited from IVF.
