Sen. Sanders outlines plan to block arms sale to Israel

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCAX) – Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders took to the Senate floor to voice his disapproval of an arms sale to Israel.

Yesterday, Sanders outlined his plan to file a joint resolution of disapproval that would block the sale of more than $20 billion in US weapons to Israel.

Sanders says that since the October 7 attack by Hamas, the Israeli government has systematically destroyed Palestinian homes, infrastructure, health care, and education systems.

He claims that the weapons sale would fly in the face of the Foreign Assistance Act, which requires arms transfers to be consistent with international human rights and avoid the US being complicit with human rights violations.
