Vt. elementary school children mistakenly eat THC gummies

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Some Burlington elementary school students are recovering after accidentally eating THC gummies.

The school district says Monday morning, three children at Edmunds Elementary School found a package of edibles near the school when they got off the bus.

After they ate them, the school says the students let teachers know and the kids’ parents were notified.

Experts suggest talking to your kids about cannabis and the various forms it comes in.

“It’s really important for parents to be informing yourself about the cannabis of today, what it looks like, how your kids might access it and having informed conversations with kids about it,” said Mariah Flynn of the Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community.

The district says it has staff check school grounds every morning and night, but these students were dropped off before the sweep. They now say the checks will be done earlier in the morning.
