UVM Health Advantage Plan no longer offered in 2025

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A shake-up in health care plans could have you looking elsewhere for insurance.

The UVM Health Advantage Plan will no longer be offered in Vermont in 2025.

Starting on Jan. 1, the plan will only be available for New Yorkers in five designated counties.

MVP Healthcare says it has become too expensive to support care in Vermont due to an increased need for care post-pandemic and financial challenges.

Vermonters currently enrolled in the plan will be able to find new options during the enrollment period beginning Oct. 15.

Information from the news release:

Who does this impact?

1. This service area reduction only affects MVP’s MA customers in Vermont including MVP’s MA Employer Group Waiver Plans (EGWP).

2. MVP’s commercially insured customers enrolled through the State of Vermont Health Connect or through employer sponsored insurance are not affected.

3. All MVP customers will continue to have access to UVMHN providers.

4. As a safety net provider, UVM Health Network will always provide emergency care to anyone who walks through the door, regardless of what insurance they have or whether they have insurance at all.

Next steps for those impacted in Vermont:
