HYDE PARK, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont man charged last week for murdering his estranged wife in 1993 will remain behind bars for now.
Prosecutors say police took a fresh look at the case and brought them information to bring to a grand jury. Cheryl’s family fought for answers for years but the state’s attorney at the time said they didn’t have enough evidence to try the case.
A judge Thursday weighed evidence in the case and decided to hold Peters without bail for the indefinite future.
The hearing will continue at a future date.
