Brewing up a good time to kick off fall season

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – Something fun is brewing in Essex Junction, as a brewery hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration.

Monica and Curt Weeber have made it a tradition to go to Oktoberfest ever since they experienced the original one in Munich, Germany. That’s where they got their lederhosen and dirndl.

“We pick one every year to go to so we can put on our clothes and have fun,” Monica Weeber said.

“We get to break it out one time a year, so we might as well make the most of it,” Curt Weeber said.

This year, they found themselves celebrating in Essex junction. Where they got a free beer token for showing up in festive gear.

The band Inseldudler set the mood, and Black Flannel Brewery and Vermont Cider Labs brought the spirits. Games included cornhole and axe throwing.

“The atmosphere, the music,” Curt Weeber said. “Everybody’s in a good mood. I haven’t seen anybody get angry at an Oktoberfest.”

Though not as big as Munich’s, the Weeber’s say Essex Junction still knocks it out of the park.
