Route 2 in Plainfield reopens after 2-week closure

PLAINFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – Route 2 has reopened in Plainfield after being closed for two weeks.

The closure was part of a slope stabilization project.

Last December, the base of a slope overlooking the Winooski River just west of Plainfield began to give way, and it was made worse by this summer’s floods. VTrans is working to stabilize and rebuild the section of road.

Though the road has reopened, work will continue there under lane closures from the intersection of Route 214 and stretching for one-third of a mile.

The work will continue during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
