BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Burlington Airport is on track to have its second busiest year ever, and a familiar airline is returning.
In 2009, the airport saw 750,000 outbound passengers. This year, they project 710,000.
The bounce back after the pandemic has also brought back a familiar airline. Frontier Airlines will return after leaving Burlington in 2019. The carrier will offer direct flights to Tampa and Orlando starting in December.
“Florida is our number one destination that we have out of BTV, even through connections frontiers, commitment to the low fares and excellent service makes it a perfect fit for our community, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them back,” Burlington Airport Director Nic Longo said.
Airport officials say they are also exploring other routes with Frontier, including trying to bring back the direct flight to Denver.
