Postal workers rally in Montpelier

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Postal workers took to Montpelier Tuesday to rally for change.

American Postal Workers Union members gathered at the Statehouse steps to stand up against privatization, mail delays, and what they call a reduction in services. According to the union, post offices have been hurt by the lack of staff and neglect on the national level.

Senator Peter Welch, who was also was also in attendence, expressed concern over the lack of a post office in the Capital City over a year after flooding shuttered the Federal Building and the USPS facility inside.

Plans have been in the works for months to open a new facility in Montpelier’s City Center but there is no indication when that will happen.
