BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) – The Vermont Department of Libraries is awarding millions of dollars in ARPA grants to libraries across the state.
The $15.9 million in funding for 14 public libraries in Vermont comes from the American Rescue Plan Act or ARPA.
The one-time grants will address critical building improvements to ensure access to high-speed internet at the libraries for work, education and health monitoring.
The Department of Libraries says COVID highlighted the critical importance of high-speed internet access to Vermonters, as so many aspects of everyday life moved online.
