Worcester Range management plan released

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont forestry and wildlife officials have released updated management plans for Vertmont’s Worcester Range.

The mountain chain, which includes Mt. Hunger, the popular Stowe Pinnacle, and Worcester and Elmore Mountains, is the subject of a 20-year state plan to better manage recreation, conservation, logging, and wildlife.

The new plan includes more recreation opportunities and opens up under 2,000 acres for timber harvesting.

The Scott administration in a draft plan earlier this year pushed to open about half of the range to logging, something that didn’t sit well with some conservation groups.
