HOLYOKE, Mass. (WCAX) – A former Burlington School Board member accused of trafficking drugs was back in front of a judge on Thursday.
Rida Kori, 24, appeared in Holyoke District Court in Massachusetts just before noon. It was a procedural hearing that lasted for only minutes.
Police say the Burlington man was caught trafficking fentanyl or heroin last month. He was arrested by Massachusetts State Police on Sept. 16 on Interstate 91 in Holyoke. Court documents show police searched his car and found cash and 3,000 envelopes, or 86 grams, of suspected heroin or fentanyl in a safe in the trunk.
Kori was elected to the Burlington School Board on Town Meeting Day in March. He resigned after he was arrested.
Kori is due back in court again in November.
