Suspect arrested, facing charges in apparent Enosburgh homicide

ENOSBURGH, Vt. (WCAX) – An Enosburgh man is now behind bars and facing multiple charges, including second degree attempted murder, for allegedly killing his father and beating his mother with a baseball bat on Friday morning.

Vermont State Police say they have officially arrested 29-year-old Jordan Lawyer on charges of second degree murder and first degree aggravated domestic assault. They have also identified the victims as 54-year-old Todd Lawyer, and 58-year-old Robin Lawyer.

Vermont State Police say it began around 8:45 a.m. on Friday with the report of a disturbance at a home on West Enosburgh Road near Tyler Branch Road. Responding troopers located the body of a man, now known to be Todd Lawyer, outside the home. A woman, Robin Lawyer was also rushed to the hospital with significant injuries. Police say she is in stable condition.

Jordan Lawyer, their son, was taken into custody by police Friday morning around 11:20 a.m. after he led authorities on a brief pursuit that started in Bakersfield and ended after he collided with a Vermont Game Warden in downtown Enosburgh. At the time, Jordan Lawyer was only being detained, as law enforcement investigated his connection to the incident.

Jordan Lawyer is being held without bail ahead of his arraignment, scheduled for Monday, October 7. An autopsy is underway to determine the cause and manner of Todd Lawyer’s death.
