St. Johnsbury shooting leaves one in critical condition

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A man is in critical injury after an early Sunday morning shooting in St. Johnsbury.

Vermont State Police say it happened around 3a.m. Sunday, when a witness reported that a masked person broke into an apartment on McGill Ave and fired one shot to the victim’s chest.

Crews airlifted the man to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where police say he is in critical condition.

VSP says this is a targeted and isolated incident.

There are no suspects currently in custody.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time since it’s an active investigation.
