BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Essex community members can get a glimpse at life behind bars at Vermont’s only women’s prison.
Wednesday night, Essex community members will have the chance to hear from Department of Corrections staff about life in the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.
The forum comes after the Department of Corrections floated plans to build a new women’s facility in Essex.
The Essex Community Center has organized the event, inviting local legislators, providers, and employees from the Department of Corrections to talk about life for women behind bars at the current facility.
Wednesday’s event is from 6 to 7:30. It is virtual and you do have to register in advance.
