United Way of the Adirondack Region kicks off annual campaign

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – The United Way of the Adirondack Region is on a mission to help New Yorkers in need.

They launched their annual fundraising campaign Friday morning.

They helped roughly 80,000 people across the North Country. This year’s fundraising goal is higher — $725,000 — to help more people struggling New Yorkers.

United Way president John Bernardi says the number of people who need help with things like car payments, food, and housing continues to grow. “We are hearing from more and more families that are struggling, despite their efforts to work really hard — sometimes multiple jobs — and really working very, very hard to make ends meet, yet struggling with a wide variety of challenges,” he said.

They’ve met roughly a quarter of this year’s goal.
