Newsmaker Interview: Vt. attorney general on election integrity

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont officials are warning voters about disinformation and scams they might encounter this election season.

Both Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas and Attorney General Charity Clark last week announced a new webpage that provides information about scams and the rising influence of “deepfakes” – images, videos or audio generated by artificial intelligence that seem realistic but are fake.

Anyone encountering any election or other consumer fraud is urged to contact the state’s consumer protection hotline.

Darren Perron spoke with Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark about the effort to educate voters.
