BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Williston Fire Department along with other neighboring fire crews battled a brush fire Wednesday.
Williston’s fire chief says it happened at 328 Greenwood Lane, and that the a homeowner there lit a fire in a firepit last Thursday and then left town, which they believe caused it. The dry conditions and wind caused the embers and ash from that fire to blow away while they weren’t home, allowing the brush fire to start
The chief says almost a week later their neighbors noticed the fire and called it in, and the homeowners came back to firetrucks in their yard.
Fire crews were able to put it out safely.
