WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Facing ongoing workforce challenges, the Vermont State Police are streamlining their recruitment process to become a trooper.
A new recruitment initiative announced Wednesday includes a “pop-up” test site in Williston next month. They say anyone can show up without an appointment at 10 a.m. on Nov. 9 at the Vermont State Police barracks in Williston and take the physical fitness test.
In addition to a $5,000 sign-on bonus, take-home cruiser, and other benefits, officials are also pointing out that they take applicants with or without college degrees and that a written test is currently not required.
The next VSP three-week training program at the Vermont Police Academy begins on Jan. 13,
