WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Williston officials want residents’ input on what to do with an old parking lot.
Voters on Election Day will be asked to approve a $400,000 bond to improve and expand the parking lot behind Town Hall.
They say it needs to be re-leveled to address ongoing issues with pooling water and ice in the winter, as well as adding some more light poles to address safety concerns for employees.
Voters turned down the project last Town Meeting Day, but with a new grant and re-evaluation of the project, officials were able to shave the price tag down by $60,000.
“Kind of added pieces to this. With a little extra parking, it would help support the village overall, as we have more needs for larger events here. But really the heart of this is better drainage and better lighting,” said Williston Town Manager Erik Wells.
